The Faculty of Health Sciences generates knowledge and trains professionals in Veterinary Sciences and Human Movement Sciences, with a solid humanistic education and social awareness, for a comprehensive approach to problems, with the aim of contributing to human and animal health and eco-social sustainability. It is recognized nationally and internationally for its academic and scientific excellence.

School of Veterinary Medicine (EMV-UNA)
- The School of Veterinary Medicine (EMV) was founded in 1973 with the aim of training high-quality teaching staff and offering laboratories and diagnostic services to fill a gap in the country.
Postgraduate Program in Tropical Veterinary Sciences (PCVET)
The Postgraduate Program in Tropical Veterinary Sciences improves the scientific and humanistic training of veterinarians and other related professionals in the Central American and Caribbean Region. It carries out applied research to generate indigenous technology or adapt existing technologies to regional conditions. It directs livestock and health development projects, with the aim of greater integration and sustained increase in productivity and health.
This postgraduate course offers the following Master's degrees:
- Master's in Epidemiology
- Master's in Sustainable Animal Production
- Master's in Tropical Diseases
- Inter-university Master's in Bioethics (UNA-UCR)
- Master's in Medical Entomology
- Master's in Conservation Medicine with two emphases: Ecosystem Health and Internal Medicine of Wildlife.

The postgraduate course in Veterinary Medicine includes the professional specialization in Equine Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction and the specialization in Reproduction of Production Animals, with the aim of satisfying the need of veterinary doctors to practice the profession with a broader clinical knowledge.

School of Human Movement Sciences and Quality of Life (CIEMHCAVI)
The beginnings of the School of Human Movement Sciences and Quality of Life date back to 1968, when the National Center for Physical Education of the Escuela Normal Superior, located in Heredia, was created. Throughout its history, it has taken on different names in response to the evolution of this branch of knowledge. In 2011, it took on the name it has today.
This academic unit researches and trains professionals with a solid technical and scientific background and social awareness, to enable them to address the current and future challenges and needs of society, through degrees in:
- Physical Education, Sport and Recreation Teaching
- Physical Health Promotion
- Sports Sciences with an emphasis on Sports Performance and an emphasis on Health.
The Master's Degree in Integral Health and Human Movement is offered, as well as the Doctorate in Human Movement Sciences, the latter program being shared with the School of Physical Education of the Universidad de Costa Rica.
